1. Introduction
Seaweed Extract Flake is a natural, concentrated form of seaweed extract that has been processed into flakes for easier handling and application. Typically made from marine algae, such as kelp or Ascophyllum nodosum, it is widely used as an organic fertilizer and soil conditioner in agriculture and horticulture.
Composition : Seaweed organic matter 65%, Alginic acid 10%, Potassium 16%, Microelement, Amino acid 6%, PGR, etc
2. Features
Source of Highly Active Raw Materials
The Seaweed Extract Flake are derived from deep-sea brown algae (e.g., Ascophyllum nodosum) and extracted using low-temperature enzymatic hydrolysis and drying technology, ensuring the preservation of the natural active ingredients found in seaweed.
Promotes Root Growth
The natural biostimulants in seaweed extract have been shown to significantly promote root development, especially during the initial transplant stage or when roots are damaged. By stimulating root cell division and the synthesis of rooting hormones, the root growth rate increases by approximately 30% compared to control groups under identical fertilization conditions. This enhances the plant's ability to absorb water and nutrients, supporting overall growth.
Enhances Crop Stress Resistance
Seaweed polysaccharides and mannitol, key components of our products, help regulate osmotic pressure in plants. This significantly improves their ability to withstand various environmental stresses, including drought, low temperatures, and high salinity.
Improves Soil Environment
Chelated trace elements remain stable in the soil, reducing nutrient loss and passivation while extending nutrient availability. Studies show that after three weeks of continuous use, the population of soil microorganisms increases by 18%–22% on average, significantly improving the rhizosphere environment.
3. Appliation
Foliar sprays
The regular ratio is 1:1000 to 1:1500 (i.e. 1 kg to 1000-1500 liters of water) and is suitable for crops such as fruits and vegetables.
Common products in the market are recommended to be 1000-2000 times (such as 1 kg with 1000-2000 kg of water), and the spraying area is about 1-2Ha.
Some high-concentration products need to be diluted to 3000 times, and the seedling stage can be increased to 5000 times to make sure the safety.
Special specifications (e.g. 20 g/bag) should be mixed with 15 kg of water according to the instructions (about 750 times dilution).
Spraying time
Choose to spray in the evening when there is no wind and keep the foliage moist for 30-60 minutes to improve absorption.
It is necessary to evenly cover the front and back of the leaves, with a particular focus on the vigorous upper leaves.
Drip irrigation/flushing
Dosage per Ha: It is recommended to mix 500 grams of seaweed extract flake with about 1 ton of water, flush with water or drip irrigation, and use it at an interval every 7-10 days.
Frequency of use
Foliar sprays should be applied at intervals of 7-15 days, and it is better to use them 2-3 times to avoid frequent application and fertilizer damage.
4. Application case grape
Irrigation 10 days before germination 3kg/ha.
Before flowering 1kg/ha foliar spray
Fruit expansion 3kg/ha irrigation or flushing

Precautions
Environmental conditions
Avoid in rainy days or within 3 hours after spraying, and reduce the concentration by 20%-30% when it is necessary to respray.
Mix recommendations
It can be mixed with pesticides or other fertilizers, but it is necessary to ensure that there is no chemical reaction (e.g., strong alkaline preparations).
Concentration control
Trace element seaweed fertilizer needs to be diluted strictly according to the instructions (such as iron, manganese, etc. are controlled at 500-1000 times the liquid)
FAQ
Q: What is seaweed extract flake and how is it made?
A: Seaweed extract flake is a dry, water-soluble form of seaweed fertilizer, typically made from cold-processed brown seaweed like Ascophyllum nodosum. It is processed into flakes to preserve its natural bioactive compounds, making it easy to store, transport, and apply.
Q: What are the key benefits of using seaweed extract flake on plants?
A: Seaweed extract flake improves root development, stimulates plant growth, enhances flowering and fruiting, and increases resistance to environmental stress. It contains natural hormones (cytokinins, auxins), trace elements, amino acids, and alginates that promote healthy plant functions.
Q: How is seaweed extract flake applied to plants?
A: It is dissolved in water to create a liquid solution and applied as a foliar spray, soil drench, or through irrigation systems. Foliar spraying provides rapid absorption, while soil application promotes long-term benefits to roots and soil microbes.
Q: Is seaweed extract flake suitable for organic farming?
A: Yes, most seaweed extract flakes are approved for organic use. They are natural, non-toxic, biodegradable, and free from synthetic chemicals, making them ideal for sustainable and organic agriculture.
Q: Can seaweed extract flake replace traditional fertilizers?
A: No, it's not a complete fertilizer. Seaweed extract flake is low in macronutrients (NPK), so it is best used as a supplement to improve plant vitality and nutrient uptake when used alongside standard fertilizers or compost.
